Blame it on Global Warming ...

As many close to me know, I get so frustrated at references to global warming. It has just been accepted as a scientific certainty and is blamed for everything from droughts to flooding, from cold winters to hot summers (because we never had record high or low temperatures before these last couple decades), to Robert Downey Jr.'s drug problem and lack of any good sit-coms on t.v. It is like the 200 years ago when a doctor diagnosed everything as "consumption." Now lazy-scientist, and even more non-scientist (Al Gore) are quick to blame everything on global warming.

Last month the Washington Post Magazine did an excellent feature on global warming skeptics. A shorter piece appeared in the Washington Post. As a free-market environmentalist (read: libertarian tree-hugger) I have been familiar with the scientists and arguments covered in the piece for years, but I'm sure it came as a huge shock to the general public that there are credible scientists that 1) don't believe in global warming, 2) recognize the phenomenon but don't believe it is a problem, or 3) recognize that it is happening but are willing to admit that we, as a nation, can not begin to do anything to affect change. Read the article (or the magazine piece if you can find it), visit CEI's web site, or glean a summary from the comic below. Any of these will make you smarter than Al Gore, the average journalist, and a vast number of scientists.
